FighterCommand [Early Alpha]
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
FighterCommand is a turn-based fighter squadron strategy game. Plan your moves at the same time as your opponent. Predicting their moves and planning ahead is the key. The game is very intuitive, so you can start flying your squadron immediately. This demo has singleplayer skirmish and multiplayer peer to peer.

this is an early beta test - please do not share screenshots/gameplay footage at this time. All art is placeholder and does not represent the intended finished product. Feel free to invite people however.
Controls:
- mousewheel - zoom
- Left click to drag the camera
- E and Q to select next/prev unit during match
Squadron Editor:
- Click on the + row to create a new Deck, then left click to add or remove units. Click save to save your deck.
- (50 pts is the target)
Installation
While you can directly download the zip, I prefer installing through the Itch.io desktop app so you can get updates more easily. Install the itch.io desktop application which is available at https://itch.io/app. login to itch (or register a new account). Inside of the itch desktop application, paste this page's url into the top like its a web browser to go directly to the game's page (see below image). Click install. now you are ready to play and get updates through the itch app.
Alternate installation:
Mac users: you will need to run the app through the itch.io desktop application which is explained above. unless you know you are able to run unregistered applications.
Windows: If you downloaded the build directly instead of through itch.io desktop app, then you have to click "more info" and "run anyway" when prompted by windows.
Linux: coming soon (ask, i can create a build)

Pretty fun for scratching that Steambirds itch.
Couple comments on the Mac v.38 beta:
1) Underlying mechanics are pretty good.
2) When a lot of fighters get going, the UI is hard to use, so adding a next unit button would be really helpful.
3) I assume the next step is in building out whatever the gold and XP do, some sort of progression in units?
4) Any plan to make the units customizable, or would that be too complex for the AI to balance against?

2) Yes there's a lot of experimentation trying to get the game easy to use and understand. Lots of trial and error. thanks for your feedback!
3) Pilots will level up and their level will unlock new skills or moves. (both for roguelike campaign mode and separately for multiplayer PVP)
4) yes you will also be able to select skills for the pilots when they level up, as well as some modifications or equipment, cosmetics for the units.
