You can also play the original game on Flashpoint! This remake is very faithful to the original, but I hope you enjoy the updated experience. I recommend playing with the AI fix options turned off (default) for the first time, so you can enjoy the original experience.

Wow, has it really been 20 years since I stayed up way too late playing this? And I'm doing it again?

Maybe I'm having a Mandela, but I could swear the original GameLab version was part of some Lego online portal they were trying to make happen.

So much fun.

<3 just released a little patch too. thank you for playing!

There's one glitch in the original that I'm a little sad isn't in this version. You used to be able to move over to creds to collect them, then undo the movement while keeping the creds. It was really useful for saving time/turns. That said, I'm super grateful that people still love this game enough to remaster it. Thank you so much!!

Yeah, a few very advanced players were sad that this glitch is gone, but I felt compelled to fix it (as well as some other known glitches). But now that it's been brought up again I think i may re-introduce it as an option.

It's really good for speedrunning the game.

I added it back!

When I press Right Click (to prepare to use Command) then Left Click on the enemy, sometimes my Hack 2.0 uses Slice (2 dmg) instead of Dice (3 dmg). Pretty sure my Hack 2.0 has at least 3 sectors at the moment, which is eligible to use Dice.

This is not a big problem, but I always have to pay close attention to my Hack 2.0’s Command’s description, otherwise I might end up dealing 2 dmg instead of 3.

Details not sure if related to the bug :

- At the start of his turn, my Hack 2.0 has only 1 sector

- At the start of his turn, my Hack 2.0 has already been Boosted by Turbo

Hi Manaseed!! In the old game we had to manually select dice every time we wanted to use dice which was annoying. I tried to make it automatic in this version, but maybe its not working with the right click shortcut. I'll look into it. thank you!

Not sure but I think there’s a bug.

Supposedly, DataDoctor’s command Grow increases the sector of another program by 2 (Perquisite: the target program has adjacent empty space to expand sector)

But there are several situations which Grow don’t work properly. I attached an image to illustrate the problem.

thanks for the bug report. yeah this looks wrong! I will try to fix it. Btw, grow is the only command which I changed the behavior of because the original's Grow was kinda buggy too. (All other game logic should be accurate) but it should have worked as you expected here.

It has several save slots but how do you delete a game save? Thanks

I didn't add a UI for it yet. Good idea. If you are on Desktop version, I can show you how to delete the file for it.

Excellent job! You're on a great way here to recreate this classic. A couple of suggestions:

The game lacks the navigation arrows at the edges of the map. As this is quite a mouse-dependant game, they would be quite helpful for navigation.

Font size is a difficult thing. My monitor is tiny at 1280x960, which is not enough for this kind of interface in fullscreen, as the font is too tiny. The map looks fine, but the pixel fonts would need to be upscaled 2x as it was done with the dialog system.

Speaking of which, I had the occurrence of a large block of text being too long, passing upwards and having the top part of it disappearing. Would be quite fitting to have a scrollbar in the chat-like interface as well.

Any plans of integrating modded levels in here? Maybe have a second campaign after the original story has been played through? Maybe some evil mod gang took over the internet after Disarrays defeat and S.M.A.R.T. has to do something about it?

Hm... gameplay could be really expanded in several ways, but that of course depends on your plans, as that might not fit a "remake", if you want to keep it like the classic. Bug should have 4 movement instead of 5 to be more balanced. Make the basic programs more useable through allowing only Level 1 programs in certain levels, which would even fit in the original game well, I'd say. Give them upload sizes (4 KB, 8 KB, 16 KB, 32 KB, 64 KB) and have each level have a certain amount of upload space for your programs. Have the decision between 1 Lv.2 program or 2 Lv.1 programs...

The option to "unload" programs to get faster through a round would fit the theme well.

Anyways, just some ideas. The game is a Flash classic by itself.

Hi Sauss! sorry your comment went into pending so I had to approve it and didn't notice until today. You can click to drag the map around, which is I think much better than the old arrows. Also arrow keys/wasd work too. 1280x960 is a very difficult size, let me see what I can do for you.

The chat does scroll, but there is no scroll bar you just use the mouse and drag.

There are custom levels being shared in discord! I do hope to support custom campaigns one day.

that's a cool idea, i like the theming of the upload sizes in KB.

Maybe you could give the option to upscale all boxes with pixel font pieces globally. If the dialoges are too small, the rest probably is as well. I guess monitors evolved since 2002.

When zooming out on the overworld, there is sooooo much unused space there across all security levels... maybe you could put the modded maps over there.

Upload limits might be a good option for "hard mode". Hard mode could be as well to play through the game without being able to replay beaten levels to grind for credits. Stuff is quite costly here and having to decide for what to buy makes it quite hard to beat.

all pixel ui scales when the screen size reaches almost double. I tested it and if I double the ui on your monitor's narrow ratio it will cover up the level making it hard to play. I wasn't expecting such a narrow resolution. I'll try to add optional scaling in the future but it will be a while sorry

Very interested in this project and hope that once you're done you continue making games (even if they aren't in the same vein)!!

I hope so too! My main goal is to do a sequel, but a remake will come out first.

demo out now :)
